Dear Brock,
I’m sure you’ve been getting a lot of letters lately. One in particular from your victim, others from people across the nation who despise you, but I don’t think you’ve gotten a letter quite like this. I sincerely doubt anyone has written you a thank you letter, so I decided I will. Before you begin to panic, this letter isn’t about you necessarily. It’s about what you did and how society has reacted. First, I’m thanking you for your poor judgement. You’ve set quite an example of how not to behave. You’re going to be the person (maybe monster is a better term) that parents will teach their young boys not to be like.
Next, I want to thank you for not going in this alone, and making sure you showed the world what your family is like. It’s clear now you didn’t just grow up to be a complete imbecile, we have your dad to thank for that as well.
I’d like to next point out how truly heartbreaking it was for me to hear that you haven’t been enjoying your steak and snacks lately. I know you once loved cooking and now it’s just too hard for you to do. Your dad said your life has been “deeply altered”….I guess being a RAPIST will do that to you. I wouldn’t know though considering I haven’t violated another person’s body.
Your dad also mentioned that you’re the type of guy that would rather “listen to other’s accomplishments instead of talking about his own”. I assumed this was because your most recent accomplishment lead to you getting arrested and sent to prison for a ridiculously short amount of time, maybe I'm wrong.
But seriously, I must thank you and your father for letting us know how you will “never be the same” after RAPING a girl. I really didn’t even consider how this was going to “ruin” your life. It was wrong of me to assume the VICTIM was going to be “deeply altered” (as your dad put) when in reality I should have realized how this was going to effect you. Silly me.
More importantly, It is essential to thank your father for referring to your attack on a vulnerable girl as “20 minutes of action.” Up until that point I didn’t realize I could find someone so intellectually inept.
In closing, I’m thanking you, not for ruining an innocent girls life, but for creating a movement in the nation. You’ve sparked a fire under a very controversial issue. You’ll be the face people learn about in history. You’ve united women and men across the country to speak up and speak loud about how injustices like this are cruel and unfair. You’ve given us the power to fight and end rape culture. Your smug yearbook picture will be the one that people will point to and ridicule forever.
Whether or not you complete your full 6 months sentence is irrelevant. You may get out in 3 months for “good” behavior, but just remember, you’ve created an army of people on social media who stand with the real victim, NOT YOU, and not one of us feels bad for you.
Thank you.
