Thank You, Ladies Of "One Tree Hill"

Throughout the past month, sexual assault allegations of famous men in Hollywood have flooded my TV screen and Twitter feed. It seems that every day I am not shocked, but rather disappointed in someone I thought to be a role model or a person of good character. These stories have broken me, hurt me, and haunt me as a woman in society, so much so that often I am a complete loss for words.

Last Saturday, a former writer for "One Tree Hill", Audrey Wauchope, did a thread on Twitter of a showrunner she worked for (she didn't name names) that sexually harassed female writers on his staff. Her tweets were met with speculation from followers over who it could be, and "One Tree Hill" alums Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton began chiming in with their full-fledged support, it became increasingly clear that she was indeed talking about "One Tree Hill" creator, Mark Schwann.

On Monday, the ladies of "One Tree Hill", both cast and crew members, came together to sign a letter publicly accusing Schwann of misconduct over their time in Tree Hill.

I'm not writing this to do another news story on Schwann and give him more time in the public light. I don't want to hear his name anymore. I think he is a disgusting human who made some really terrible choices and that he should be punished for it. I'm writing this for the women that stepped up to the plate to make sure he never gets away with it again. Those women, the cast and crew of "One Tree Hill", are my heroes.

I finished watching "One Tree Hill" a couple of months ago. I had spent the past year watching nine seasons of dramatic happenings going on in a little town called Tree Hill. There were murders, evil dads, pregnant teenagers, and twisted love triangles. Sometimes, it was hard to take seriously because of how crazy the plot lines would get. However, I was captivated by the characters.

The men on the show, Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Austin Nichols, Antwon Tanner, and Paul Johansson, to name a few, were charming and attractive and well-developed in their own right. They evolved as actors, especially Lafferty who was just a teen himself when the show started. These men did a great job, but the women of the show inspired me.

Burton's Peyton Sawyer was devastating and complex, like any teenage girl, except she showed her emotion and wore her heart on her sleeve. I related to Bethany Joy Lenz's goody-goody turned hopeless romantic Haley James Scott because she was down to Earth and not afraid to speak her mind. And Bush's Brooke Davis went from so-called 'slut' to the person I most wanted to be: a badass and brave woman.

Schwann's actions will not diminish this show for me. The show has always been more than television to me. This show introduced me to actors that I am constantly in awe of. Sophia Bush's Twitter account is life-changing. She is an activist. She is real-life Brooke Davis, which is so much more than Schwann or anyone for that matter could have ever created.

I will take everything I watched on "One Tree Hill" with a grain of salt now. Every time Schwann wrote an actress as half-naked when she didn't need to be, each time I read that Bush was told she was not sexy enough and then too sexy to play Brooke I raise an eyebrow and question Schwann's motives, and anytime I rewatch when that damn dog eats Dan Scott's heart I will take a deep breath and remind myself that this is only a fictional work of art and that Mark Schwann is a psychopath who will get what's coming for him.

So I just wanted to say thank you to the women of Tree Hill. To Hilarie Burton, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, India de Beaufort, Kate Voegele, Jana Kramer, Allison Munn, Bevin Prince, Shantel VanSanten, Michaela McManus, Danneel Harris, Daphne Zuniga, Audrey Wauchope, Rachel Specter, and anyone else who may have signed or contributed to the letter that they wrote.

It's some kind of miracle that I get to live in a time where I get to see women standing by other women to stop the madness. These ladies are superheroes. They are my role models. I hope to be half as brave as all of them one day.

Thank you, Tree Hill ladies. Thank you, Tree Hill men for standing by them. And most importantly, thank you, fate, for bringing these amazing people together. Evil will lose out in the end. Good conquers all. Change has only just begun.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
