A Thank You To Concerts
Julia DeWolf

Concerts, the memories you have given all of your attendees are an endless amount. Thank you for being a little slice of heaven for all of us music lovers. You have been responsible for so much of our happiness when it comes to music and life. Concerts are such a special thing we get to attend, and something none of us should take for granted. So here at five things I want to thank concerts for.

Thank you for,

1. Being a place we can all get lost in the music.

You give us the freedom to let go and really feel all the music. We get the opportunity to be witness to some of our favorite bands and artists, it is truly so special.

2. Giving me so many of the best memories.

You have given me countless memories I will forever hold onto. All the way back to when I attended my first ever concert, The Jonas Brothers (R.I.P.) with my mom and second family the Foxes and she screamed “I love you Kevin!” which everyone at the time thought was hilarious because everyone knew Joe and Nick were where it was at and Kevin was just there. Or when basically half my graduating class went to Sam Hunt the day before we walked across the stage at graduation then proceeded to keep the party going and all attended Migos the night of graduation. These are just a few of my favorite memories.

3. For helping me find the best concert buddies.

The best type of people are the type who go to concerts not just for the social aspect but who go purely for the love of the music. The type who chooses to stand in the pouring rain with you to listen to the music, you both love. The people who take your hand and dance in circles with you to all the bangers. The type who put their arms around you and cry when the song plays that both of you know hits you in the crack in your hearts whether from a relationship, a sad memory, or happy tears. People who love and truly feel the music they go to see are the best type of people to be with.

4. For being a type of family bonding.

My family and I have attended a lot of concerts over the years. It’s safe to say we all love to be present and enjoy a live show. Whenever we see or hear of a place that has a live band we always choose to go there over another without one. We all have some different and some very similar music tastes but the music still brings us together.

5. For allowing me to let go

Every time I attend a concert, as strange as it may sound, when the sun begins to set and the music begins to play I feel like I can release all my anxieties, stress, anger, and sadness and just let go. It is a really freeing feeling being able to sing out your favorite songs and not have a single worry in the moment you’re in because you’re so deeply lost in the music.

Concerts, thank you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
