Bolton Massachusetts,
Thank you.
In 2011 I walked across the stage at Florence Sawyer School in front of all of my peers and officially graduated from a school where I had spent nine years of my life. It’s hard to avoid being a part of the community when you have lived there all your life. In 2015 I nearly stumbled across the stage of the DCU center proudly representing Nashoba's green white and gold. Until college, I had only ever lived in this small suburb and frankly it’s all I have ever known. So as I have grown older, a bigger part of the community I have become. It feels like living in this town I’ve done everything under the stars to become more attached to this community. Truth be told when you grow up in a town like Bolton, Massachusetts, there is no escaping learning EVERYONE’S name. I have grown to love this little town that feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere.
Though this town has certainly grown on me, I have always looked forward for the future. While a large part of my five year plan includes attending the University of New Hampshire and majoring in hospitality management, I refuse to forget my quaint little home town.
The future is waiting, I am excited to see the world and all that it has to offer. I have always known that I wanted to work with people. Just like any other student, over the years the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" has had evolving answers. First I wanted to be a fashion designer, then a teacher, then a physical therapist, then a psychiatrist, and then finally, an events planner. I want to help put a smile on people's faces. I hate when things don't go perfectly but I love new challenges. The field of Hospitality is broad and to get to the top there is a large ladder I'll have to climb but I'm more than willing to do so. The first rung of my ladder will always be my small town in central mass that nobody has ever heard of. While this ladder may be tall, my base is strong.
To get where I want to be I know I’m going to be facing a lot of troubles. Quite honestly I feel blessed to have received such a strong base in this sweet little town I call home. So thank you, Bolton. Thank you for getting me so excited about the Fair every year, even when it moved to Lancaster. Thank you for never ruining the streets with big name businesses that would ruin our aura. Thank you for being so accepting regardless of what I did and didn't have to offer.Thank you for your unconditional support when all I did was want to get away from you for so many years.
Thank you for being such a special part of my life, always.
Sincerely,
One of your 4,897 residents.
