Whether you're five or seventy-five, one thing always remains true about heartbreak: it hurts.
At the time, there seems to be no way to get over the boy who left you heartbroken because things didn't work out. But as hours, weeks, and months go by, time truly does heal all wounds and you understand why it didn't work out. So, rather than holding grudges towards your past relationships, be thankful for them because they lead you to something (or someone) better.
Thank you to the boy who didn't see the potential I possess that should be recognized without a doubt. You made me realize that my hopes, dreams, and aspirations were far too great for whatever your future plans included. Which in turn, made me realize it was not a bad thing you wouldn't be a part of my future.
Thank you to the boy who one day decided I wasn't worth giving closure to when he decided things were over. If I was out of sight, I was out of mind to him. The only trouble here is one day you'll run into this boy and he'll be at a loss for words when he notices everything he missed out on.
A special thank you to the boys who make it obvious that they're only interested in the physical aspect of the relationship. Relationships must be based on so much more than just physicality. Trust, motivation, and compassion are just a few of the characteristics you lacked, but that's alright; I know my worth.
Thank you to the boy who strings you along until it's almost impossible to keep up with him. Symptoms of these relationships include constant questioning of where the relationship stands and extreme emotional roller-coasters. It's so much better to know where you stand with someone than to always be second-guessing yourself.
Ultimately, thank you to all the boys who have ever broken my heart, whether they know it or not. All of them significantly impacted my life, even though most of them weren't worth a second of my time.
They lead me to something much better. After they made me find myself, I was able to accept love from someone who treats me the way I should be treated. Someone who reminds me every day of my worth and never lets me forget it. Someone who would drive hours to see me for ten minutes. Thank you to all the boys who broke my heart, because you lead me to the state I'm in right now: true happiness.
