To my hero:
When I first had you as a teacher, I was apprehensive on what to expect. All I really knew was that you were the so called "fun" teacher on campus, and that I was as excited to walk into your classroom as you were to have me in class.
My first time witnessing your awesomeness was in a class with some less than awesome people. They were loud, annoying, and tended to like their phones a little too much.
When I had you for the second time, however, I really got to see the amazing teacher you were. It was the mornings of sight reading, singing, and "using our tummy muscles." We had our own challenges in that class, too, but none too big for you to overcome.
You lead, and we followed. So, Mrs. St. Cyr, this one's for you.
Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself.
On days when ,my life was filled with doubt, you never frayed from letting me know how important I was. You always lifted me up into the person that you knew I was.
Thank you for being there for me when I was upset.
One of the most vivid memories I have from knowing you in high school was the morning that we put my dog to sleep. Upon telling you, you hugged me and reassured me that things were going to be okay. Even during my tumultuous senior year, you somehow found ways to make me feel like I was going to be okay.
Thank you for still supporting me as I ventured into adulthood.
You have been there for me in times when I was lost and did not know what to do. You guided me through the first year of adulthood and showed me that things weren't all that bad when I had someone like you to rely on.
Thank you for being a role model for my future kids.
On the last day of senior year, I told you that I hoped my future children would one day have a role model as amazing as you. I meant it. I can only hope and pray that my kids will form a bond with a teacher that was as special as the one you have with your students.
You have molded me into the person I am today. Without your love and support, I would not be the classy woman of society that I pride myself in being today.
When you think of why you teach, remember that me and countless others think you're a rock star.
I can't wait to teach alongside you one day.
Keep being awesome,
Emily
