It’s always a beautiful thing when someone welcomes you into their family, even when they barely know you. I’ve been in my current relationship for over a year now, and while I’m super thankful for him, I’m also incredibly thankful for the way both his immediate and extended family welcomed me happily and the way they continue to do so every day.
To his immediate family...
Thank you for letting me come over to hang out all the time and providing me with (delicious) dinner more times than I can count. Thank you for opening your home and allowing me to join your family movie nights, for letting me love your dogs every time I see them, and for caring about me the way you do. Thanks for accepting me, for the countless meals you’ve paid for, for the gifts you’ve given me, and for making me laugh all the time. I can never thank you enough for what you all have done for me.
To his extended family...
Thank you all for your open arms. Thank you for not making me feel like an outsider and for opening up your hearts to me. Thank you for inviting me to your family functions and for always feeding me, whether at those functions or at another dinner. Thank you for talking to me like I’m not just some random girl who showed up at your house one day, because, let’s be real, that’s basically what happened. You all made me feel like I was right at home with you guys, and for that, I’m more grateful than I could ever say.
Most of all, thanks for all the wonderful memories, for trusting me with your son/brother/nephew/cousin/grandson, and for making me feel like I have a second family to be part of.
