5 things I appreciate.

Thank You America

Thank you, America, for electing a man like this.

1. A man who equates a women's success to her looks:

"Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!" - President Trump on Carly Fiorina

"Well, obviously it's great outer beauty. I mean, we could say politically correct that look doesn't matter, but the look obviously matters. Like you wouldn't have your job if you weren't beautiful." -President Trump talking to a female reporter.

Why he's wrong:

Women have fought for years to obtain the same rights as men. During World War II, men left the country to fight in the war. While they were away at war, many women filled the job positions left behind. They finally had a chance to prove themselves in the work force. Women were also active participants in the war as well. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt insisted that women could serve in armed forces. Women were even members of WASPs, or air force service pilots. These women saved the lives of many military men, and many of these women died in the process. When the men returned, they took their jobs back, and women were expected to return to the home. Women fought for years to be able to work. They fought to be something other than pretty things sitting at home. To reduce years of strife and perseverance to physical appearance is something women never asked for. Women never asked to be judged based on appearance. Women never asked for men to objectify them. Women fought to be equals, and a statement like this wrecks all that progress.

2. A man who makes fun of disabled people:

He held his arms in a way that was mocking the reporter. There is no denying that his intentions were to ridicule the man for his disability. He acted as if this took away from the man he was mocking.

Why he's wrong:

I know a girl with cerebral palsy who is just like everyone else. The only difference is she has to strive harder to do things that the rest of us take for granted. She's a hero, not someone to mock; and neither is the man Trump mocked. A disability is not a limitation, and it is not an insult. Bethany Hamilton, Oscar Pistorius, Jason P Lester, and so many others are prime examples of real heroes. Trump is just an individual with a loud mouth and a lot of hate. He could never understand how harmful his words and actions are, or how wrong they are.

3. A man who calls climate change a hoax:

"The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive." - Donald Trump

Why he's wrong:

According to NASA, global warming is a real issue, causing real problems. Their website explains how the sea level is rising, how the global temperature is rising, glaciers melting, and so much more. Not only do they state these things but they give exact statistics, unlike the Donald. If anyone wants to look further the link is below.

4. A man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl:

"I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it--Jeffrey enjoys his social life." - Trump on Epstein, a convicted pedophile.

The woman says that Trump had raped her when she was 13-years old at a party that Epstein had thrown. This case is, in fact, still in action and was not thrown out of court because of anything other than paperwork mishaps. This is a common occurrence in court cases, and definitely does not take away from the victims pain.

Why he's wrong:

There's no need to explain. If you don't understand why this is wrong, then you're part of the problem.

5. Calling Mexicans rapists, when he himself is soon to be on trial for rape:

"They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." - Donald Trump on every Mexican immigrant.

Why he's wrong:

The Donald has multiple women accusing him of sexual assault. He may have also raped a twelve year old girl. Yet, he has the nerve to accuse an entire race of being rapists and drug dealers. Trump doesn't know Mexicans. Trump doesn't care about Mexicans, and the world just showed that they don't either. Ignorance is suddenly the new norm.

Thank you, America.

Thank you for electing a man who tells my baby cousin she can't be anything in life if she's not attractive. Thank you for electing a man who spreads ignorance and hatred. Thank you for electing a man who thinks his own words are above science. Thank you for electing a man who reduces good people to their disabilities, then mocks them for something they cannot help. Thank you for electing a man who raped a 13-year-old girl. Thank you for telling this woman that her pain is not valid, and with her, every other woman who's ever experienced sexual assault. Thank you for teaching the children that compassion is a weakness. Thank you for teaching them to put themselves above anyone else.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
