Ten Things I'm Thankful For

Thanksgiving is coming up so I made a list of what I'm thankful for

Since Thanksgiving is coming up I've been thinking of what I'm thankful for. There are plenty of things I've appreciated and felt grateful for but I'll try to narrow it down to the best things or at the very least the most recent things I'm thankful for.

1. Friends & Family

Obviously I have to thank the family. They're always there for me and it's nice to see them as much as I can. And to my friends... you're alright.

2. Winter is coming... I think

Lately the weather has been warmer than I've expected seeing as how it was 70 degrees the day before I wrote this article. I love winter. I love seeing my breath in the cold air and seeing snow everywhere. I'm not a fan of the cold but when you're wearing plenty of layers it's pretty nice.

3. Cancelled classes

Thank the professors who cancelled classes on the day before Thanksgiving...

4. Writing

Writing is my passion and really calms me down after a long day of writing essays. I like to create new worlds and characters and telling new stories so I'm very thankful for this art form.

5. People

Just people in general, I love ya! Some of you suck but most of you are the best and that makes all the difference. I learn a lot from you and I couldn't live without you! Have a happy Thanksgiving!

6. Gift Cards

I had a gift card to the grocery store with $15 on it and I bought as much food as I could and I was so happy because I'm running low on meal swipes. I have just enough for one meal a day so I'm really thankful I could eat without burning a hole in my wallet. I know the broke college kid thing is a common stereotype that people are sick of hearing about but I literally had milk one night for dinner because I had no food in my dorm and I used my one meal swipe. I'm very thankful for gift cards.

7. Technology

I'm thankful for technology; not because it's convenient but because I have learned so much by using it. Back in the 80s people would have to know all this stuff otherwise we would have lost knowledge on the bookshelves on our libraries. We still do but we've scratched the surface of information between distracting ourselves with social media, Netflix, and all that. I'm very thankful for what I've learned through the internet because it would be much slower and painstaking if I had to read ten encyclopedias to learn about one topic or two.

8. The semester's almost over

This semester has already kicked my butt. I'm done. It's the tenth round and my legs are wobbling. It needs to stop.

9. Leftovers

Read #6 again.

10. Christmas and my birthday

Lastly I'm thankful for Christmas and my birthday because that's when I shop for myself... well... others shop for me because I'm too broke to actually buy new things. Thankfully my birthday and Christmas are close enough so it's just a big row of presents and I try to not need anything else for another year. Thanks and I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
