Being in your twenties is probably the best time of your life. You're luckily not in high school anymore, and you are either in college or just finished college. For many, reality hasn't kicked in yet. Being in your twenties, you can get away with not paying for all of your bills and are still living with your parents. You might not even be sure what you want to accomplish with your life yet. For those who are still in school, your career path may not be clear yet. This is a time of learning who you truly are and how you will go about the rest of your life.

1. Let go of all of the negativity in your life.

If someone does not make you happy, eliminate them from your life. You will always have opportunities to spend time with people who do make you happy. This also goes similarly for jobs, college majors, and so on. You are only in your twenties once, and you can always change something that is negative in your life to positive. You have the power in making that decision.

2. Take care of yourself.

You should always put yourself before others. This does not mean that you shouldn't care about others, but you have to make decisions that you are comfortable with. Take the time out of your day to relax. Go for a morning jog when the weather is nice. Sit outside on your front step with a cup of coffee. Read a book from the library.

3. Travel and explore as much as you can.

Traveling can be expensive, but it doesn't always have to involve taking an airplane to a far-away destination. Experiment with public transportation. Go somewhere that you wouldn't normally go. Take a trip to a museum in the closest city to you. Plan a beach day with a group of friends. Be adventurous.

4. Appreciate the people in your life.

Sometimes friends go in different directions after college. You might meet people in college from other states and even other countries. Your friend that might live five minutes away may not always live so close. Spend as much time as you can with the people that you care about.

5. Take the opportunities that come your way.

Pick up that extra minor in college. Take an extra class that interests you. Apply for a job that you are unsure about, maybe it will end up being for you. Say yes to that job promotion. An unforeseen opportunity might lead to something that you never expected.

6. Don't be too hard on yourself.

You may want to stay awake until 3 A.M. to get something accomplished but usually it can wait until the next day. Don't overwork yourself. There are only 24 hours in a day; what is meant to get finished will be finished. The human body can only handle so much negative stress.

7. Learn that everything happens for a reason.

It may sound cliché but it is the truest piece of advice that one can ever hear. If something is meant to be, it will find its way to happen. If something in your life goes wrong, it is meant to teach you an important lesson. It might be a difficult concept to remember, but there is a reason behind every action and reaction in life.

8. Remember that not everything is permanent.

People will drift in and out of your life. You will not always be friends with the same people from your childhood. Only the sincere people will stay by you in your most difficult times. When people drift out of your life, it will be a positive, wake-up call to you that they were never worth being in your life.

9. Be kind when someone is having a bad day.

When a friend or family member is having a bad day, go the extra mile and do something to cheer them up. Even if you feel that someone wouldn't go out of their way for you, be the bigger person. Show someone that you care and cheer them up. It is more than likely that you would want someone to put a smile on your face during one of your darkest days.

10. Live life to the fullest.

Try your best to wake up with a smile on your face every morning, even when it is difficult. Life is too short to have too many bad days. Say hi to someone that you don't know, make a new friend, and go on an adventure. Learn to genuinely love your life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
