I used to have a dream that Disney Animation would make a sequel to Tangled. Luckily, that dream has now come true, as Tangled: The Series is set to premiere on Disney Channel soon. However, there is a bit of confusion surrounding the series and its release, so let's clear up all of that now. Here are a few things you should know about Rapunzel and Flynn's new adventure:
1. A new movie will kick off the series
That's right! Tangled: Before Ever After will premiere on Disney Channel on March 10. The Disney Channel Original Movie will star Rapunzel and Eugene (aka Flynn) and center on the former learning how to be princess. During this adjustment, her magical blonde locks will grow back.
2. The actual TV series will premiere after the film
Mark your calendars for March 24 if you want to watch the first episode of Tangled: The Series. The series can be seen on Disney Channel, and it follows the lives of Rapunzel and Eugene before they get married.
3. Yes, there will be music.
Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater have teamed up to write new music for the series. Also, one of the songs has already been released. You can watch a clip of Rapunzel's tune "Wind in My Hair" here.
4. It will star the original voice actors.
Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi have reprised their roles as Rapunzel and Eugene for the Disney Channel movie and series. They also seem pretty excited about it. Don't believe me? Take a look here.
5. Other famous actors are lending their voices to the show, too.
For example, Modern Family's Julie Bowen plays the role of Queen Arianna (Rapunzel's mother) and Will and Grace's Sean Hayes plays Pete the Guard. Also, Broadway fans will recognize the voices of Jeremy Jordan and James Monroe Iglehart in the series as well.
6. It's going to be around a while.
Disney has already okayed Tangled: The Series for three seasons. These seasons will reportedly consist of seventy-eight episodes, and it's the second Disney TV show to be greenlit by Disney for a whole series, the first being Star Wars: Rebels.
7. Rapunzel's not the first Disney princess to get her own TV show.
Both Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Jasmine from Aladdin got their own series. Fans will have to wait until Tangled: The Series premiere in March to see if Rapunzel's show stacks up compared to theirs.
8. You can already see some of the show's footage.
If you're like me and just can't wait for Rapunzel to return to screens, then take a look at the Disney Channel movie's trailer.
So there you have it! Rapunzel will return to screens in March with a Disney Channel original movie and a TV show. I don't know about you, but I'm hoping to see some frying pans and purple lanterns, am I right?
