Taking Photos Of What Makes Me Happy

Taking photos of what makes me happy, made me realize how much I have to be grateful for.

Throughout the past week, I took photos when I saw something that made me happy. I realized that there are a lot of things in my life that brings me joy. It is easy to notice the bad things because they stick out. When something inconvenient happens, I tend to dwell on it. Sometimes, it can even ruin my entire day. However, this experiment opened my eyes to all the good that happens in my life daily.

Each morning I get up and come to work. Most days, I have to wake up between six and seven in the morning. I tend to think about how early it is. I wish I could go back to bed. However, during this experiment, I noticed how happy work makes me. My boss and coworkers are friendly and fun to be around. My job in the library is very calm, and I learn something new every day. Plus, I love the smell of books.

This experiment also made me appreciate and friends and family even more. I have friends who help me study! We have fun doing anything together, even if we just grab some food.

I also have a fantastic family. My mom and Grandparents call me to check up on me. They listen to me when I am stressed. My sweet younger siblings always have something funny or cool to tell me. .

My incredible fiancé, Eric, brings me immense happiness. Just this week, he has fixed me coffee in the mornings, cleaned the house up, and we even had a bubble fight while doing the dishes.

I am also lucky enough to go to an incredible college. Jacksonville State University offers me so much. I have fantastic teachers. Therefore, I understand the material I am learning and make excellent grades!

I am also involved in a good bit of extracurricular activities. This week I helped paint the homecoming banner for Lambda Sigma. I love crafts and the people in my organization.

I had a senate meeting this week, and those always make me happy. I love that so many students are passionate about this campus. I also did this experiment, which I would not have done without Odyssey!

My advice for anyone is to slow down. Every day, try to notice at least five things that make you smile. In the words of Roxana Conroy, my Principles of Psychology professor, "there are no bad days, only bad moments."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
