I have 8 piercings total and each one has been different taking of it. I've had keloids, swollen parts, all the crusties, etc. If you're new to the piercing club or just have a few questions, I'm here to help
Keloid?....or is it a piercing bump?
So with my helix orbital piercing, I've have 3 keloids and 1 piercing bump. Keloids are painful and usually have a red purple or even yellow color to them. Piercing bumps are usually very dry and just crusty all the time. Having a keloid or piercing bump doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't taking good care of it, it just means that your new piercing is being touched... a lot. Like I said earlier, I had this issue with my helix orbital and that part of my ear was constantly touching something (my hair, my shirts when I'd put them on/off, my hand when I'd put my hair behind my ear, shampoo, etc.). To help get rid of your keloids or bumps, use tea tree oil and/or vitamin e oil. For every 10 drops of water, do 3 drop of tea tree oil and 3 drops of vitamin e oil. I did this every night for about 2 weeks and my keloids and bumps went away. Try your best not to touch it or take the dead skin off of it.
Swollen?
If your ear or part of your ear is swollen because of your piercing, just take some ibeuprofen. Also, just because your piercing may be healed, doesn't mean it won't get swollen. I've had my daith for well over a year now and there's some days it gets swollen even if I haven't put any trauma on it. Ears are weird so always keep some ibeuprofen in your bag.
Bleeding?
None of my piercings bled when I got them pierced except for my helix orbital. That one bled like crazy. Now granted, the place I went to, really messed it up and it was more than painful. Sometimes when you have a piercing that bleeds (especially if it is new) it can be hard to clean. The best way to get all the blood off of your skin and earring is to let warm water run over it when you are in the shower and then, when you get out, get a q-tip and put some saline or salt water solution on it and try to wipe it away.
