Do you ever feel stressed and anxious when getting near your first interview? I can definitely relate.

When I had my job interview for my first job on campus, I was nervous and my throat was dry. I could feel my pulse increasing and my heart beating faster. When I think about the event, I just remember it as a scenario that happens to the best of us. I wouldn’t let these hateful thoughts run in your mind, though. Anxiety can definitely come in many different ways and forms for us to experience throughout our lives.

If you are a socially anxious person or student, do you think you would be able to face a crowd? The answer is most likely not. It really takes a while to be confident to be doing your daily tasks at hand, such as getting to your job on time or even walking to the next class on campus.

Some of my favorite ways to handle the situation is to take deep breaths and count to five. Another way to handle anxiety is to listen to music while walking around on campus. Even better, most college students listen to music, too! I just have to let you know walking across campus in the earliest hours of morning and night can also do the trick. Ease your anxiety while you are at it, students! As we take the time to reflect on these instances, we are open as individuals to confront our anxious selves.

There is nothing better than tackling anxiety and rewarding yourself in the process. Coping strategies are ways to make your day better while relaxing, smiling, and letting your inner diva come out.

It sounds so hard once you think of it, but when you tackle it yourself, everything comes better in time. Managing stress is so important because it gives us an incentive to be brave and keep our attention on the path we are supposed to conquer. We ultimately get rid of our fears and stand up to them by taking control of what makes us anxious.

Remember, you can calm your anxiety in a crowd and also have the confidence to face interviews and certain important moments of your life. Always remember to follow these strategies. In time, you will feel like anxiety is not a burden, but a blessing in disguise to help us realize that struggle is a part of life and we can still have a nice day ahead of us.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
