Why You Need To Get Off Of Social Media

Stop and think.

Life moves way too fast. Especially living in a fast-paced environment like NYC, one can get extremely tired and done with almost everything. What we need to do in this speedy life of trying to get everything done, finding a perfect life, and satisfying everyone around you, is to just stop and think for a while.

I get tired of just looking at social media and simply scrolling through the endless feeds. Sometimes, I am not even going out with friends and just lying in my bed alone and I get tired of social media. Trying to keep up with other people’s lives can be really draining.

Just think about it. Social media spearheads everything in our world today, from news to friends’ social lives to important announcements. It’s extremely weird for us to think about how everything that is draining us in the fast-paced environment is completely digital. I get tired of simply sitting there and looking at a bunch of feeds and news, not even going out and doing some strenuous activity. We need to take a break from it.

And to prove my point, I did take a two-week break from social media and it was the best decision I made in my life. Just not having to care about other people’s social lives and what events were happening was so refreshing. Having time to myself and just thinking and reflecting on myself really slowed life down and it was exactly what I needed. Although one of the downsides to this was not having knowledge of the news, due to the heavy digitalization of news and not knowing what my friends were doing, life just slowed down and I finally had some time to relax and reflect. Taking time to yourself and taking a break, what I mean is through social media but not limited to it, is something that you should do on a monthly basis. Having such a busy life, especially in the fast-paced cities, I think the best relaxation is not getting a massage, but taking a break to slow things down and making time for yourself.

Just stop and think. Those are probably the four most important words and advice that one can receive in this world today. So dependent on social media and digitalization, we need to realize ourselves that non-active pursuits and indoor activities are what is making us tired when what should be making us tired should be outdoor activities. In this changing, global and fast-paced world, we all need to pause and make time for reflection.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
