5 Of The WORST Things About Being Sick As A College Student
Being sick in college is a whole new level.
I tend to get sick pretty frequently. I don't always take care of my body the way I should (sleep and healthy eating are rare), and for some reason, I never do anything to fix it until it all catches up to me. Getting sick in high school used to stress me out because I hated being behind on my work, but getting sick in college is SO. MUCH. WORSE.
1. Missing class
Missing a class in high school might put you behind a few topics, but even a whole week missed is usually easy to make up. Missing a class in college means missing two chapters, an in class quiz, and half of the exam material all in one day. It's actually easier to go to class than to miss it.
2. Exams
Missing class is difficult enough, but if you have an exam it gets a whole lot more complicated. You're essentially expected to show up at exams if you're anything short of dying, but trying to study and then making your way to the exam is such a struggle that you aren't likely to do well either way.
3. Finding food
Being sick in high school entails your mom bringing you every meal in bed and getting a true chance to relax and get better. Being sick in college? Good luck getting to the dining hall when it's 15 degrees outside and you have to walk through the snow and you don't even feel like you have the energy to get out of bed.
4. Roommates
Not only does being sick affect you, it affects the other person/people that you live with! When one person on the floor is sick, the entire floor gets it within days. Perks of living in such tight quarters.
5. Missed work
Technically you could be doing your assignments in bed, but you really don't know if you have the energy to do anything other than sleep. But, you know that if you sleep, you'll be even more behind later. And then you'll get sick again. And the cycle continues!
