'Old Town Road' Is The Best Trend To Hit TikTok, YEE YEE
Because everyone is country at heart.
There's a new trend on TikTok, a video-sharing app that was formerly Musical.ly, where you change outfits to the song 'Old Town Road' by Lil Nas X. The videos start with either someone in front of the camera in "City" clothes or drinks from a drink that says e-juice with a yee yee juice label underneath. When the bass drops and the rap begins in the song the outfits change anywhere from southern just around town wear to rodeo/true country wear to comedic yee yee attire.
For me, this is a trend I can really stand behind. For the transitions of a real country person whose attire and or backdrop shows they really are living that life I feel it's our time to shine and rule this trend. I grew up on a farm and surrounded by farms so southern country blood runs through my veins about as strong as gravy and biscuits.
For other videos, you can see the hilarious attempts to be country. For most videos a flannel is used and some sort of cowboy hat whether it's a straw hat or all the way up to an actual Stetson. But for these, a flannel, tights, and boots or a flannel, short shorts, and boots definitely don't equal country. Honestly, it makes me eager for Alpha Psi Rodeo on April 6 to see who really is country and who is trying too hard.
I even jumped on this trend and made my own for TikTok. Unfortunately, I broke guidelines and it was taken down. I mean what's more country than packing your lip with good ole Levi Garrett while on an old tractor and unloading three shotgun shells into the air in the backwoods. I will still be posting the video to my Instagram (@jtlittleton) for your viewing pleasure.
The other interesting part to these is the objects and animals used. These objects range from a dog or horse to stuffed unicorns. My favorite though would definitely be one guy starts off with a stuffed llama and when the bass drops and he changes to his country attire the background shows a barn full of llamas all behind him.
For those with TikTok, you should definitely watch some of these videos( I say some because last I checked they are multiplying faster than flu cells). As for me most of the users I follow are country so my TikTok is very country fried. So let's see what the next big trend on TikTok will be. And don't forget to keep it country.
