Sleepless Nights And How To Tackle Them

I know that many people, and especially college students, struggle with insomnia. Even when they have time to sleep, their bodies never shut down until the middle of the night, which ruins their sleep cycles. Especially at a young age, where many of us are still growing to become adults, we definitely need a good amount of sleep. However, with all our responsibilities, parties and just overall extracurricular activities that we partake in, it is very difficult to fit sleep in our schedule. So, these are just some simple tips to help you get through a sleepless night.

The most basic thing for a sleepless night is some good, slow-paced music. There are many genres of music that can make you feel sleepy in mere seconds. For example, some sad, slow music or indie music works for me as it makes my eyes extremely heavy and then makes me fall deep into sleep. However, aside from music, peaceful noises such as a waterfall or birds chirping works for many people. There are many apps out there that just play these peaceful background noises for hours until you end up falling asleep. One way to tackle a sleepless night is through peaceful, slow music and sound.

Another way that works for many people, including me, is ASMR videos. This also deals with sound, but more of a sensory reaction sound. ASMR can include people crunching on chips into a microphone or just people whispering into a microphone. This may sound really weird, but these bizarre sounds really help me to fall into a deep sleep. Whether it be watching people eat chips into a microphone or the sound of someone cooking can help you tackle a sleepless night. Also, you never know what works for you so even though it sounds odd, try it and who knows, it might work the best for you.

I know the simple tips all have to deal with music or sounds, but that it honestly what works for a lot of my friends and me the best. If you don't like falling asleep to a certain song or a certain sound, then there are also many alternatives, such as thinking of a peaceful place or your happiest memory, to put yourself into a good mood which eventually helps you to fall asleep. It is extremely difficult to fall asleep when something is on your mind, so the best tip of all to tackle a sleepless night is to have a clean slate on your mind and forget all your responsibilities and problems for the mere moment before you fall asleep and then tackle your problems when you wake up after a refreshing sleep.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
