Junior year in high school is always known to be the hardest, most important year before college.
It’s comprised of standardized testing, college touring, difficult math classes and pretty much all of the normal struggles teenagers face in high school.
But what about junior year in college?
Seems like just another year in the college journey, hopefully resulting in a successful career and then you know, like maybe getting married? Having kids? All that good stuff, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.
Well moral of the story, I’m starting to realize that junior year may be a slight curve ball, so I guess I’ll just have to take it as it comes.
For starters, this is the year that many people choose to study abroad. At all of the big football schools, it’s a no-brainer, pretty much everyone studies abroad spring semester.
At the lovely University of Delaware, however, there is quite a mix between students going abroad fall, winter, and spring. So this means when I get back to school later in the week some of my friends just won’t be there.
Speaking of studying abroad, I feel like I’m applying to college all over again. Please abroad gods, just accept me somewhere!
Meanwhile, it’s starting to sink in that this will be my last ever semester in college with my mom, best friend, role model and partner in crime. This person happens to be my “big” I was lucky enough to find through joining my sorority, and the thought of college without her just doesn’t seem right.
I love all of my roommates and the other friends I’ve made over the last two years while trying to find my way at Delaware, but there’s something different about having that one friend who is literally meant to be the person that keeps me in line and makes sure I don’t completely mess up my life.
Enough of this sob story, still have the next few months to cherish every moment together, and thankfully I have an early birthday so I’ll be joining my wild “mother” at the bars quite soon.
So yes, pretty much what I’m saying is that I have this weird transition of a semester that includes trying to convince a foreign country to accept me for a whole semester. And then senior year? Still haven’t managed to pass a college math class so I guess I’ll just take it day by day and hope for the best.
Junior year, please be good to me.
