6 Ways to Survive the Week Before Finals

The week before finals. The most exciting and stressful time for all college students. Christmas is right around the corner and you almost never have to go back to that 8 am again. But on the other hand, your teachers are trying to cram in everything they can last minute and finals are just around the corner. Here are 7 tips to help you survive the week before finals.

1. Get some sleep!!

I know this is so cliché and almost impossible, but it is imperative. If you don't get enough sleep the week before finals you will absolutely crash during finals. So squeeze in a nap between the 10 and 12 class or even before work.

2. Study ahead of time

Waiting until the last minute to study can be overwhelming. Try using 5 minutes of your day to just look over materials or make note cards and memorize 10 a day until you have them all memorized.

3. Utilize every minute of your time

If you have a 30 minute break between classes, use it to look over your notes. If you aren't gonna take notes in a class, then use it to get a head start on your homework for the next class. Or take a nap. Always time for naps.

4. Be comfortable and feel good

Maybe you're the kind of girl who likes to wear sweats to every class or maybe you like to dress up everyday. Whichever it is, feeling your (best whether it be being comfortable or dressed for success) can help you do your best!

5. Use a planner

It can be hard to keep up with everything you have to do every day. Keep a planner so that way you always know what you have headed your way!

6. Work hard, play harder

There is nothing wrong with taking a little break to make sure you get some TLC. Because if you're not having fun and enjoying yourself, then what's the point of it all?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
