5 Keys To Surviving College Without A Car

You might not think it is possible to live without a car, however, it is very doable in the tiny town of Manhattan, KS. Most things in this town are about ten minutes away in a car or less. Yes, sometimes it would be faster and more convenient to have a car, however, it isn't needed. Here is a glimpse of my college experience without a car and the different ways I get around.

1. Walking

The majority of the time I will walk places. I live just a few blocks from campus so in the mornings I always walk to and from my classes. It is a short commute and I'm always with the other girls in my sorority, who are doing the same thing. As well, walking has been a great way for me to get in fresh air, exercise, and hopefully some sun rays.

2. Carpooling

Often times if I need to go somewhere in a car I am able to tag along with the girls in my sorority. Even if they aren't going there I usually am able to find someone who doesn't mind taking me or dropping me off to get something. Living with seventy other people is really great for that reason. There tends to always be someone leaving from or coming to the house.

3. Biking

An easy way to get around town is to bike. When the weather is nice this is one of my favorite things to do. Our town is just so beautiful and there are so many unique homes to look at on the side streets. I also really enjoy the exercise you get and that fact that you get to be outside. It is also a plus. On a bike, you can get somewhere pretty quick too.

4. Atta Bus

I also have used the bus system before my freshman year. It is a really handy thing to know how to use and thankfully it will take you to all the major shopping areas in this town. I had a bit of trouble figuring out the website and times. I don't think it is the most user-friendly however, It does work and is a great way to get around when having limited options. I would recommend going with a friend, as well as not having a super busy schedule the day that you choose to ride the bus because it has a set route and it could take a little longer. At least until you get a hand of the system because it can be confusing if you are new to it.

5. Uber

If needed I also have used car-sharing services such as Uber and lift in town. If you are needing a ride, right now I would say that this might just be the easiest thing to do. I have had positive experiences so far and have would recommend this if your other resources aren't working.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
