This past week over my Spring Break, I landed myself in Orlando, FL and ended up going to four parks in two days. Now I know it sounds a little crazy, but it was crazy fun. Planning a trip to almost any theme park can be hectic and insane when trying to plan everything out, buy the tickets, and just try to plan the day so you can do as much as possible. I'm going to give you guys a few tips and tricks that I learned over the break that might just help you on your next big theme park trip.
Starting my first day off, we went to Universal Orlando and did both the main park and Islands of Adventure (which both included Harry Potter). First main tip, get the park app on your phone to help you monitor attractions, ride times and just help you find your way around. This is a must because it helps so much when you are in the park to check ride times and help you plan accordingly what you are going to do next. It is always good to be there when the park opens and then head straight to the main big thing you want to do.
For example, we went straight to Harry Potter because we figured there would be a lot of people, but compared to what it could've been, it wasn't bad at all. Ride times were under 15 minutes and it was a great time to go. Next tip, don't be afraid to go on a ride as a single rider. The line is shorter and even if your friends or family don't want to or can't do the ride, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Overall, Universal was pretty chill, but it started to get pretty busy around 3-4, so do the main things you want to do before then (i.e. big rides or more popular areas) and you should be great!
Moving on to our second day, we went to Epcot and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Now, this day was already going to be a little crazy because there was rain and a tornado warning in the forecast, but this didn't stop us at all. This might seem like a meaningless tip, but when you see weather warnings like this, don't cancel your trip, just be prepared with jackets, umbrellas, and a plan if the weather gets really bad. If this is the case as well, look for rides, shows or shops that you could go to when the rain does come around to stay out of the weather.
Personally, I love to pin trade when I am at Disney. When it comes to trading with the cast members, they can't refuse to trade with you and you can trade two pins with each cast member. Buying the starter packs can be expensive so head over to eBay and buy a mystery pack of 25 from a seller and take them with you and you'll be able to trade a ton. Plus keep an eye out for those Hidden Mickey pins because you can only get them from a cast member.
Another quick trick and tip is if you buy your tickets online you can get some fast passes about a month before you are supposed to get there so you can get those for your favorite rides that might be a little busier. Just head on over to Disney's website and look up the FastPass+. The last simple, but vital, tip is to bring some snacks.
Both Disney and Universal allow food to be brought into the parks, so instead of spending a handful on popcorn or snacks throughout the day. Bring your own and then get a nicer meal at the park and it'll help you and your bank account out. Plus you can even bring your own bottle into the park to and that can save you from purchasing a ton of drinks throughout the day.
Overall, the whole point is to be able to go and have fun and these little tips and tricks will be able to help you have a more memorable experience. Plus its a great way to get your steps in, keep a fit bit, phone, pedometer, or other step counting device on you and you'll be happy with how much you've walked. Speaking of all that walking be sure to wear good comfy shoes so that if you do like I did after two days and four parks, your feet won't be completely dead. In the end just remember to have fun and enjoy the adventure!
