We Need To Support Women Now More Than Ever

Listening to each other can change humanity for the better.

We Need To Support Women Now More Than Ever

In the day and age of the #MeToo movement, women are beginning to stand up for their rights. Other generations of women did not have this same opportunity, and since we do, we need to support these women. It is terrifying to speak up about a man's or the world's or society's wrongdoings because you never know who people will believe in a "he said, she said" debate.

Why is it seen as "his word against hers?" Shouldn't we believe those who have been wronged and stand with them? This seems like common sense yet is still fairly uncommon even today. Some people claim to support these women yet do not take any meaningful action.

There cannot be change without action.

In order to create a change, we have to stand together and act.

Recently through actions like the #MeToo movement, our world’s perspective on the way in which women are treated is slowly evolving. The key to these movements is solidarity. Standing together as women with other women by our side as equals make us more powerful than ever because if we are unanimous in our passions, society is more likely to hear our voices.

Much of this problem roots from listening.

We need to listen to all women's voices to make sure their narratives are attended to.

Everyone deserves to love themselves and feel confident in who they are.

When women are denied a voice, we are being denied the basic rights every human being should be given.

We are seen more as objects to be violated, abused, blamed, and silenced instead of the beautiful works of art we are. With white men dominating the media, there needs to be a modification in the conversation. Let's listen to women talk about our issues instead of hearing a male perspective on a woman's issue.

Recognizing the injustices brought upon women by society has brought to light the heart of the issue of body standards, and these movements like the #MeToo movement have empowered other women to step forward and contribute to the cause of implementing change for the better. There is power in numbers, and creating a safe space where women can speak up about the corruption layered deep into society can be the beginning of a powerful revelation.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
