College is by far one of the most difficult stages of life due to continuously having things occurring at once and not being able to sit down for just a second and watch the sunset at your favorite spot. It gets hard some days and you need to lean on people in order to get through a really difficult morning, afternoon, or night. Sometimes we forget about the priceless aspect of having friends that you can count on and who will be there for you no matter what happens or where life takes you.
When you meet those people who change your life and make you think a little bit differently about the ways that you view the world, you know you've met the people who are going to shape you into your best self. As this new year approaches, It's so important that we surround ourselves with the people who are going to push us in a positive way rather than break us down negatively which is not supportive.
It's difficult to meet these people, and It could happen unexpectedly that you meet your best friend by chance or even just because you were at the place at the same time. If anything, this year try to establish connections that you never thought you could even make due to maybe nerves or fears. It's time to open up to the world as It's opened to you and allow for change to be brought into your own life.
Yes, It's scary and you'll definitely want to step back at times due to some of the fears that you will have in the future, but the people you surround yourself with are going to help you through the dark days and make for even better ones in later days. Being open and honest with yourself is the first step in making any progression or change within your life or even someone else's.
If you want to make a change in your life, make sure to listen to yourself and allow for these changes to be made or else nothing will be accomplished at any point. Once you are able to take the positives and the negatives of your life and establish those changes, you can help others in doing the same with theirs. Maybe you'll even find that you're growing with someone and embarking on a journey together rather than solo.
Be the person that you want in your own life for someone else, and you could find yourself growing even more. Use your ears, listen to your friends or those who are about to become your friends and be the person that they can come to when they are upset or helpless because you need that too. Everyone in this world needs someone at some point to lean on or talk to, so be that person for someone this year and make a change in your life as well as theirs.
"Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend."
-Albert Camus
