Suicide is currently the 10th most leading cause of death in America. On average, there are 121 suicides a day. This could be explained by a few things; maybe the help necessary is not readily available to those who need it the most. It could be that they feel alone, maybe there is no one for them and even upon expressing their feelings, they are only shut out. It could be that sometimes people feel so depressed and so alone that they are not thinking about getting help. Their thoughts and urges are too strong for them to fight against. There is never a completely sure reason that people commit suicide because unless they blatantly tell you in a note or some other form, you may never know what's going on in their head.

On Thursday, July 20th, Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park was found dead in his home in Palos Verdes Estates. He committed suicide by hanging, leaving behind a wife and six children. He killed himself on the birthday of his close friend, Chris Cornell, who killed himself in early May. A big question that many have for Chester is why did he do it? Was there something that people could have given him to keep him from doing this?

In an interview with Mike Shinoda, one of his band-mates, he speaks of how hurt Chester was regarding Cornell’s death. They made the song "One More Light" about his death and every time they sang the song, Chester was choked up, on a few occasions not being able to finish the song. Mike also pointed out that he wonders if it would've made a difference if someone would've asked him how he was doing. For someone who was the reason many didn't kill themselves, who helped people find their way and understand that even though it is hard, the struggle is worth it; they find it strange that he killed himself. The ironic character of it all, I suppose. Now on Facebook, the news and every form of social media, we see a chain of Chester Bennington posts, how he will be missed or what were the signs that everyone missed. Some contemplate why he committed suicide and some are calling him a coward.

When someone is depressed to the point where they can barely stand to live, they do not look for help. They want an out from all the pain they are feeling and many times people want someone to listen to them. So it is sad, that when it comes to someone committing suicide, everyone wants to be there. But beforehand, when someone asks for help, people just write it off.

Suicide is a scary thing to deal with but if someone confides in you, help them, because you don't know if you just saved their life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
