Superwoman Crashing

Superwoman Crashing

It hurts. Everything you do or say, it hurts. She is Superwoman, she is always supposed to be strong and smart and supportive and someone who is always put together because she is invincible, but no more. Should she say thank you for bringing the 'old' her back, should she thank you for taking away her ability to fly? Should she thank you for taking the power behind her words leaving her with nothing left to say? Oh, but don't worry she might not be herself anymore, but her name is still Superwoman after all.

Boom. Boom. Boom. Do you hear that? It's the sound of what you've done to her. Piece by piece you have taken her apart. You have destroyed her and then used a glue stick to put her back together again. She's trying her best to do what you want her to do but for god sakes she is not a puppet, and there are no strings attached to her limbs. Not only did the 'S' on her chest stand for super but it stood for success and the ability to strive under pressure. Now, the 'S' on her chest stands for stupid and sanctimonious. Or at least pretending to be sanctimonious in order to throw off the civilians.

Ever since you glued her back together she walks just fine, and speaks just as frequently as she used to but if look close enough you'll see the cracks in between the pieces that used to make her worthy of human rights.

Superwoman crashing because she can no longer fly

Superwoman crashing because you stole her ability to fly

Superwoman crashing because she is too afraid to try again

Superwoman crashing because this may be the end

Smile and laugh is what she does all the time. Smile and laugh is what she does all the time? Correction: Smile and laugh was what she used to do all the time. But when was the last time a smile or laugh crossed paths with her. Cheers to the good o'l day when this hero was super. Cheers to the good o'l days when this hero was a hero.

Superman always falls and feels pain, but when the time comes around he rises from the ashes and saves the day once again. When will Superwoman rise from her ashes and save the day? Or is the pain that she has suffered so great that she will never recover no matter how hard she tries.

Superwoman crashing because of you

Superwoman crashing because of them

Superwoman crashing because she has nothing left to give

Superwoman crashing because she has nothing left to take

You use her and abuse her as if she is your slave but did you ever take a breath and ask yourselves what makes this woman so super? What makes her so super is the way she did everything with such love and care. Every battle she fought and won was accomplished because she believed that at the end of the day, she had support from the civilians she helped save everyday. She was their equal.

Superwoman crashing and you're trying to stop her

Superwoman crashing and no one can stop her

Superwoman has crashed and it's because of you

you should have stopped her

you had one job to do

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
