The library, at this point, is my second home, ok? Dead week had me become this emotionally unstable person just from the transition day to day waiting for the dread of final/submission week.
I must confess though, studying at the UW library is not too terrible, besides the access to food from The Ave, the scenery from Allen library, and the Hogwart-y like building that is incredibly AWEsome! You can say life is not too terrible. Hence, I will stop whining. Besides that, there is always one thing or two things that people do at the library that are cringe-worthy or plainly embarrassing. Here are some of them:
1. The expression of distress
When someone next to you says, “I hate this” repetitively. Not knowing if you should reply, you tell yourself “totally same, bro.”
2. Sleeping anytime anywhere
A little short story: one time I fell asleep at the library, and the person who was sitting next to me made a sound as he was pulling out the chair to sit on them. Quickly, I woke up to realize he was there to sleep too.
3. Trying to stretch
It is funny/weird when someone from the opposite side of your seat gets up, trying to stretch and make an eye contact with you. Me: “Don't look Up.” I know your butt is hurting from sitting far too long, mine is too.
4. Trying to fix your underwear unnoticeably
I promise I have never done this… in some of the libraries...when ending up getting caught by someone across the room. Totally embarrassing.
5. When they look all serious...
..and you found out they were just casually playing video games. You got me worried again man, with the way you tap those computer keyboards so voraciously.
6. When someone watches a video, and the volume goes all the way up
And everything was quiet.
7. When someone tries to take you out when you're are totally not interested
And when they know you're underage and all of a sudden they are not interested.
8. PDA
Public displays of affection. Please, just stop. Or be kind to the single AF people for once, at least.
Just a tip for you...when you think no one is watching you at the library, there might be people there watching you without you knowing. I know, I know, the library is your second home and all but it is a second home for many other 1000+ students, too.
