Super Bowl 53 had a star-studded matchup featuring two of the best running backs in the game. Both Todd Gurley II and Sony Michel starred in the big game while they represented the University of Georgia well. These two players are not the only Dawgs in Atlanta though. They were joined by 3 other former Dawgs.
Here is the list of Dawgs in the Super Bowl:
Todd Gurley II - LA Rams, Running Back
Sony Michel - NE Patriots, Running Back
Ramik Wilson - LA Rams, Linebacker
David Andrews - NE Patriots, Center
Isaiah Wynn - NE Patriots, Offensive Line (injured, will not play)
Let's take a look at how great these players were at the University of Georgia, and why they deserved to make it to this stage.
Todd Gurley II: After a massive freshman season at Georgia, Gurley just missed 1000 rushing yards in each of his next two seasons because he missed multiple games. Over the three years Gurley was at UGA he accumulated a total of 3285 rushing yards with 36 TDs and 615 receiving yards with 6 TDs.
Sony Michel: Michel was part of one of the most dynamic running back duos in college football history with his running mate Nick Chubb. Sony put together a four-year career of 3613 rushing yards with 33 touchdowns. He had 621 receiving yards followed with 6 TDs, similar to Gurley.
Ramik WilsonESPN
Ramik Wilson: Wilson doesn't make as much noise in the NFL as the previous two stars but he is putting together a decent career nonetheless. He previously played for the Chiefs before joining up with LA. Wilson amassed 253 total tackles after playing sparingly throughout his first two seasons. He had 6 sacks and added 19 tackles for loss.
David Andrews: Andrews is in his 4th season with the New England Patriots after being another standout at Georgia. He is the starting Center for the Pats in the Super Bowl as he protected the legend Tom Brady in yet another Super Bowl.
Isaiah Wynn: As one of the best offensive linemen in UGA history, Wynn was selected with the 23rd pick of the 1st round in the 2018 NFL Draft. Wynn was one of the primary blockers for the dynamic duo of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Unfortunately, Wynn was injured before the season began and has missed the entirety of it. The Patriots are excited to see Isaiah back in action next season to be a starter on one of the best offensive lines in the league. He is excited to get back out there and protect Brady with a fellow Georgia alum.
