Sunsets: Simple Yet Unique

Never let someone make you feel bad or wrong for taking a picture of the sunset and posting it on Snapchat or Instagram.

Sunsets: Simple Yet Unique

Honestly, if something makes you happy, nobody's opinions on it should matter. You shouldn't worry about what others are saying about what you posted, if something gives you joy, share it with your friends and family for them to enjoy it too. A sunset with a ton of buildings in front or a sunset sinking into an open field is all different and beautiful in their own way. If you love to post the pictures, you should continue to do that. You are showing off your love for sunsets and your skill of capturing a moment in time.

I get it. Seeing a million and one Snapchats of the same thing can be annoying. But who are we to judge each other of posting something that someone loves. Why do we shame others for thinking something is interesting?

Many people think posting the sunset or the sunrise is basic, I think it is far from that. Each sunset is uniquely beautiful. Nature, in general, is uniquely beautiful. The sunset should be appreciated and photographed. If someone chooses to do that, let them show it off to you.

Imagine this: you and your friends are bored, trying to figure out something to do after sitting on the couch all day. The sun is about to set. All of you hop into one of your vehicles, drive to a nearby open field, and pull into the parking lot. The three of you take a few pictures of the sky, open up the back of your car, and watch. You have all been a little stressed with life and your thankful for this moment. You sit in silence and watch as the sun sinks slowly into the tree line and night falls upon you.

The world we live in is full of the hustle and bustle of the business world, we never take time to reflect on our surroundings. It is a chance to breathe and reflect on our day to day lives. Being outside in nature is easy and cheap, especially for us college students, way to destress and feel at peace.

In the summer, after a rainstorm, the sunset is a piece of art. It is thrown up like a watercolor painting. It is so bright, yet peaceful. The different hues of yellow, orange, pinks, blues, and purples mix to make the perfect skyline. The sun floats low behind the trees and it slowly falls to a dark and starry night sky.

Each sunset is a new piece of art, painted in the sky. It is something that happens daily, one that humans take for granted sometimes. We are told countless times to "enjoy the little things in life," so why are we complaining about the people who post those pictures? They know how to enjoy those little things and want to share with everyone else. A sunset can show us the beautiful things in life, even when we are feeling down and out about the world around us. It is an easy reminder that things may change, but they are still beautiful.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
