Now that school has let out, the summer job search is in full swing. After filling out countless applications, and you finally get a call back, it's time to start training for what will fill the next three months of your life. If you're like me, you have found employment in a local restaurant. Working over the summer is the best of both worlds: no school and the opportunity to earn some cash. Here is Hannah Montana to tell you all about working over the summer.
1. That look when your supervisor asks whose fault something is, and you know it's yours.
Everyone messes up sometimes, but no one likes getting called out for it. Nobody's perfect, right?
2. Doing something well and getting praised for it.
Even though these times seem few and far between, every once in a while, you do your job exceptionally well and reap the benefits. If you know that you did a good job, be proud of your work!
3. Being forced to act nice in front of rude customers.
There will always be a handful of rude customers during your shift. Unfortunately, the most you can do is smile and wave.
4. When it's your turn to clean the bathrooms.
No.
5. Having no idea what a customer just said.
Sometimes it's a mistake on your part for not listening clearly. Other times, the customer might as well have been from another planet.
6. Hearing your supervisor yell your name from the back.
A million and one things are now rushing through your head. "What did I forget to do?" "What did I mess up?" "Why me?"
7. Your reaction when that one coworker consistently screws up at the worst times.
There's always one. It's the middle of the rush, everyone is taking on more than they probably should be handling, and just like clockwork, they do damage that in the moment, is seemingly irreparable. Everyone on duty would smack them if they could.
8. When you find out you have to close on a Friday or Saturday night.
Pretty much every single time Sometimes you have to turn down weekend plans because of work, when it seems like most other 20-somethings are out enjoying themselves.
9. When it's finally time to clock out, and you have plans after your shift.
Every once in a while, the stars will align and the plans you have made do not conflict with your work schedule. Time to transform yourself from your work uniform to a trendy outfit you purchased with your most recent paycheck. Drinks on us!
