Summer Heat, Summer Beat

Ways to stay refreshed this summer!

Summer Heat, Summer Beat

There is no need in trying to deny that this summer is crazy hot. No matter where you are geographically, we are all getting some of the summer heat this time around. It is no surprise that we are all trying to cool off in order to survive this summer. Whether you are on a budget or not, here are a couple of suggestions on how to cool off this summer.

1. Hit the beach

This is an obvious suggestion. You can go with a friend or a group. Either way, there are multiple activities you can engage in such as sport, surfing, and if the beach in particular that you went to has a pier then you can eat, play games or ride the carnival rides there. Plus let's not forget the amazing pictures you can post on social media to let your friends know the war between the heat and you is on and you're winning.

2. Cliff Jumping

If you are feeling a little bit in the adventurous side, cliff jumping is undoubtedly the way to go. Stay on the edgy side while refreshing yourself by jumping off a cliff into a nice cool body of water. The cliff does not have to be too high, whatever height you are comfortable jumping off from. You can even make it a goal to be brave enough to jump from the highest cliff you find that summer. Build confidence by enjoying yourself. If you have a Go Pro Image, think of the incredible footage you can get by doing trying this.

3. Floating

Grab your family or best of friends, a waterproof speaker, your floating tubes and go float tubing. Take refreshment with you and enjoy a chill ride together. Do not forget your sunblock. This is a fun time with those who are closest to you. This is your opportunity to feel one with the nature of the flow.

4. Water balloon/Water gun fight

As simple and childish as it sounds, it is always a blast to have some competition with those you love. Chasing one another, keeping score, slightly getting revenge for something they did to you three years ago. And the best part: seeing how got it the worst. There is always one person who was either targeted most, could not dodge or for some reason was always at the wrong place at the wrong time, their reward: the person got soaked the most.

5. Barbecue party

Another simple yet always genius idea is hosting a barbeque. Food and being around those who make you happiest, who would pass up that offer?

No matter which way you chose to stay cool and refreshed, remember to eat ice cream or flavored shaved ice afterward. Fruits & vegetables are also a nutritious way to stay refreshed. Enjoy your summer and let's all have the upper hand in the summer heat.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
