Chandler Muriel Bing: one of the most self-deprecating, awkward, desperate-for-love characters ever shown in a television series called "Friends." Similarly, many millennials can strongly relate to Chandler Bing as they are also self-deprecating, awkward, and desperate for love. When summer rolls around, many students will be lying on the beach with various beverages in their hands developing a tan similar to that of a Nacho Cheese Dorito. Many students will be working long hours all week and celebrating on the weekends, and many students will be sitting in front of their computers for hours every day of the week partaking in summer classes and strongly relating to our beloved Mr. Bing (hey, no one told you life was gonna be this way). Here are 10 ways students relate to Chandler Bing while taking a summer class:
1. So you've decided to take summer classes
2. What seemed like a good idea at the time of registration is now looking like a very, very terrible idea
3. Yet you soon learn that you have to suck it up in order to get all of your class work done in time while simultaneously earning an "A" and managing to not want to die
4. You'll soon find it's very tempting to fall asleep right at your computer instead of reading the 30 textbook pages your new professor assigned that day
5. Eventually, the panic sets in: this is 16 weeks' worth of information smushed into eight (or sometimes even four (God bless your soul)) weeks
6. The inevitable occurs: someone asks a very stupid question and you want to slam your fist through your monitor
7. And there are so many group discussions and you have to sit there and pretend you know what you're talking about, when 90% of the time, you don't.
8. Since you'll likely never meet this professor, they're especially harsh and pack on the work load like there's no tomorrow
9. And, yes, you'll lose your summer of relaxation to getting an education instead
10. But when you pass that class and it boosts your GPA, it'll be oh so worth it and you'll break out into your happy dance
Godspeed, my fellow students.
