My only problem with summer is I have all this free time that I don't know what to do with. I want to have a memorable summer but don't know how. So if you find yourself looking for something fun to do this summer, here's a summer bucket list for North Carolina.

1. Take a day trip to downtown Wilmington.

I know it sounds basic, but the NC beaches have so much to offer, especially Wilmington. The water front restaurants and small town shops create many fun options for any one going to the beach.

2. See an outdoor movie at the NC Museum of Art.

The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh plays outdoor movies during the summer on Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets are cheap, and they play everything from classics to family movies. Grab some friends and watch a movie under the stars.

3. Go parasailing.

This is the closest I will ever get to skydiving. Flying over the Outer Banks while the sun sets is hard to beat.

4. Go down Sliding Rock.

I'm not a big fan of the outdoors, but I do love the Sliding Rock near Asheville, NC. It's a giant natural water slide, you gotta admit that's pretty cool.

5. Visit Southport for the Fourth of July Festival.

The NC Fourth of July Festival in Southport, as seen in the movie "Safe Haven," is definitely one of the summer events i'm looking forward to. (I'm still going to keep an eye out for Josh Duhamel.)

6. See an outdoor concert at the American Tobacco Campus.

The American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC is home to many restaurants and is host to awesome outdoor back porch music concerts during the summer.

7. Take a wild horse tour on the Corolla Coast.

I didn't think this was real, but I have to see the wild Spanish mustangs that walk up and down the coast of Corolla in the Outer Banks.

8. Attend Fist Friday in downtown Raleigh.

Downtown Raleigh is known for its events. On the first Friday of every month, downtown Raleigh has local artist displays, food, and live music open to the public.

9. Climb a lighthouse.

Cape Hatteras, Bald Head, and Ocracoke Island all have lighthouses that are fun to climb and are an easy way to get your steps in.

10. Take a dolphin tour.

I think dolphins are the coolest animals, andKitty Hawk has water tours where you can explore the coast of the Outer Banks and watch for them. That sounds like the perfect day to me.

11. Go to the Downtown Sundown concert series in Wilmington.

What better way is there to spend a summer night than watching a concert on the water? Every Friday night downtown Wilmington has live music for their Downtown Sundown summer concert series.

12. Attend the Food Truck Rodeo in downtown Raleigh.

50 food trucks from all over NC gathered in one place, what more could you need?

13. Go to a drive-in movie theater.

The Badin Road Drive-in is one of the few running drive-in theaters in North Carolina and plays current movies. Find a friend with a truck and go reenact the 1950s.

14. Go stargazing.

This is an easy one. All you need is friends, a car, and a blanket. Get out of the city and spend a Friday night with the people you care about just looking up at the stars.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
