It’s always fun to plan a road trip -- or to take one spontaneously just because you have a full tank of gas and want an adventure. Either way, a road trip is amazing. But even during one of the most exciting and exhilarating experiences you can have, it’s best to be prepared. Better safe than sorry. As long as you have the following essentials, you’re all set for a good old time with friends. You won’t have to worry about little things; that way, you can focus on what’s important, which is making memories and enjoying life.
A Crossbody Purse
is absolutely necessary to keep your essentials in a place that’s convenient and secure, which you’ll never lose while you’re driving on the highway, making pitstops and doing cartwheels in sunflower meadows.2. Lip Balm to keep your lips super moist and refreshed while the wind is blowing through your hair.
It can get stuffy in the car, and you definitely don’t want your lips to suffer. I always carry EOS Strawberry Sorbet flavor, because it’s my favorite.3. Water Bottle filled with water (of course).
I use a purple Contigobottle, and I love it to death. I drink from it all the time, and it’s super easy to wash. I am also very much in love with my "Be Passionate" water bottle (with a fruit holder for fruit-infused water) but I seem to drop it often, so I stick to this reliable bad boy.
4. Gum or mints.
I personally don’t chew gum and prefer mints, but whatever you’re into is great to keep you refreshed and energized. My favorite are Altoids in Wintergreen!5. Sunglasses.
A cute pair like these reflector sunglasses says “I’m ready for adventure." They scream dynamite! You probably don't want anything too expensive, especially for a road trip. My go-to cheap source for sunglasses is Forever21, where they cost as little as $4. Talk about a steal.6. Oil Blotting Sheets.
I personally get a bit gross by mid-afternoon, and a quick swipe of a blotting sheet makes me look fresh and rejuvinated again. And it doesn’t remove or mess up my makeup. Super perfect!7. Cute Camera or you could just use your phone.
I always take my mini Fuji camera, because it’s so road trip worthy. It takes beautiful and snazzy little pictures, which I think are so appropriate for fun-filled adventures like these.8. Magazines.
They’re fun to crack out when riding with the girls and you want some gossip or tips. I always take a Cosmo and a National Geographic, becausethe insightful writing is worthy of a long car ride.9. Healthy snacks to keep you and your gang energized and ready to have fun all day.
Mini-veggies like baby carrots are so travel-friendly, as are granola bars like LUNA bars or Cliff bars. You can also try fruit snacks, and dried fruits like mango and raisins are bomb. You want to stay away from Red Bull and junk food as they can drain energy and make you feel sluggish. And you don’t want that when you're going 65 on the highway.10. A cute blanket for having a picnic.
I suggest stopping at a nice sunflower meadow. There's one in White Hall, which is only 40 minutes from campus! You and your crew can stretch your legs and have a nice relaxing bite to eat.11. Portable Phone Charger.
I promise you will thank me for this! I can’t tell you how many times my phone has decided to die on me, and this has saved my life. Mine was only $3, and I love it!12. First Aid Kit.
You never know! You’ll be super happy you brought one if anything does happen. Get a mini one to fit in your super-cute cross-body bag.Now go have fun, and enjoy your beautiful and adventurous life.
