I am all curled up on the couch with some hot chocolate and tissues because IT'S BACHELOR SEASON. I know, I know. The bachelor is such a ridiculous reality show! People can't find love on television! Why do you waste your time on such trash?
So I am fully aware that this show is sexist, dumb, and totally scripted, but I can't help but be obsessed! I think the bachelorette is much better, but that's a whole different article. Here are the reasons why I just can't stay away despite the infamy of this long-running ABC classic.
1. The man
2. The romantic dates
Here we have bachelor Nick Viall and contestant Rachel in New Orleans dancing in the streets during a parade together after having drinks at a local bar and exploring the city. I'm sorry, but you don't hear of such amazing, elaborate or adventurous dates in the real life.
3. The clothes
Most of the time, the girls bring their own evening gowns and clothes, but when they get to the end, they get dresses designed for them for the finale! They're always so gorgeous... and when you're the bachelorette, like my girl Jojo here, the show dresses you themselves. Just fabulous.
4. Extravagant vacations
Here we have the happy couple, Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi (they broke up like 4 months after this), getting engaged outside a beautiful cabin in Switzerland. SWITZERLAND. Even though this didn't end up working out, at least we got to watch one of the most beautiful proposals ever. So romantic.
5. The drama
Yes, the drama is also one of the worst parts of this show. I hate seeing women bringing each other down instead of lifting each other up. But sometimes the drama just becomes funny. Girls can sometimes say the most ridiculous things when they're angry and then it'll turn into a Twitter phenomenon. When its all in good fun and the drama is resolved, I think it's okay for the girls to have it out a bit. When it's the bachelorette, however, nothing is funnier than watching a bunch of bros fight.
6. When it ends in happily ever after
I believe that only nine couples from the show are still together, but when you see a relationship develop from start to finish and are rooting for them for months, getting to watch them have happiness is a really fun and heart-warming thing for the audience. Sean and Catherine have been married for four years now with a child, and one on the way. When it does work out, it's a pretty fun show to watch.
