College is the time to explore your career opportunities and have fun. It is not meant to be a time of stress and worry. Here are things every college student needs to stop stressing out about.

1. Major

Try to pick one that you will enjoy because you will be happier and do better. Your major does not limit you to one career. But, if you are not happy in your major, change it. Just because you are not on a pre-track does not mean you will not be successful.

2. Friends and Family

Stop stressing out about your friends and family. Your stress is not going to affect their lives and worrying about their opinions is unhealthy. You are on your own now. Put yourself first.

3. Needing Help

Nobody is perfect. Whether it's financial, academic, or mental help you need, take advantage of all the resources on campus and get the help you need. Even the most independent person needs help.

4. Past

College is the place where you can recreate yourself. The new people you meet do not know your past. Do not stress about the things that have already happened. Your past does not define your future.

5. Relationship Status

The pressure to be in a relationship can be overwhelming in college. Just because people are asking you about your love life does not mean it needs to be a certain way. You do not have to find the love of your life in college.

6. Social Media

Social media is everywhere making it easy to stress out about but don't. It creates a false sense of life and friendships. Put the phone down and embrace the people and situations going on around you. The amount of Facebook friends you have means nothing.

7. Appearance

People do not actually notice your appearance as much as you think. Comfort and practicability are more important than trying to dress to the ever changing trends. There is nothing for you to prove because you are beautiful no matter what you are wearing.

8. Fitting In

You are not in high school anymore. There is no popular group to try to fit in with. Instead, there are many groups that are all vastly different. Find the ones that are you without you having to change.

9. Homework

Homework still has to be done eventually, but the stress does not make it any easier. Make a realistic plan to get things done and stick to it. Go to the library if your dorm in a distracting place.

10. Eating by Yourself

Enjoy the alone time. Everybody has a different schedule. Nobody thinks you have no friends. Most people are just trying to eat before their next class, just like you.

11. Money

Money is important but it isn’t everything. College is the time to learn and have fun. Do not be afraid to go somewhere because of the expenses. You have the rest of your life to worry about money.

12. Getting Sick

Stress weakens your immune system making you more likely to get sick. As long as you keep up with your hygiene, there is nothing to worry about. However, if you get sick, take care of yourself. It could be your body telling you to take better care of yourself.

13. Forgetting Things

Whether it is somebody's name or information for a test, it happens to all of us. Stop stressing and you will be surprised what you will remember.

14. Asking Dumb Questions

Somebody else has the same exact question. Nobody knows everything. You have to ask those questions that you think may be dumb. If you do not ask, you will be upset when the information appears on the test and you still do not understand it.

15. Trying to Do Everything

You are only human. You cannot do everything and still make time to take care of yourself. Find a balance between academics, social life, health, and everything else.

16. Food

Eat what you think is best for your body. Do not get a salad at every meal because you worry what somebody will think if they see you eating a burger. Try to maintain a healthy diet, but everything in moderation.

17. Stress and Worry

There is a lot going on in college with exams, homework, extracurriculars and everything else. Do not let it also be a time where you stress and worry about being too stressed. College is supposed to be fun even though it is about getting a degree.

Breathe. Everything will work out in the end.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
