To the ones who have been struggling with their appearance lately,
I understand. I understand that you think that you aren't enough. I understand that when you're out in public, you'll see other people and wish that you looked like them and you compare yourself to them. I understand that you avoid mirrors because you don't want to see yourself. I understand that you don't like clothes shopping because you're afraid nothing will fit.
I understand because I am the exact same way.
I constantly wonder what my life would be like if I looked different like if I had a slim body, no stretch marks, no cellulite, no acne, great hair, great teeth, the list goes on and on.
It's so easy to look in the mirror and point out all of the things that you hate. But you know what's equally as easy? Pointing out all of the things that you love about yourself.
So, yeah, your skin has broken out because of stress recently and maybe you noticed the cellulite on your thighs, but that doesn't make you any less of a person.
Everyone will always have insecurities and flaws. Even Victoria's Secret supermodels that you see while scrolling on Instagram have insecurities and that is OK. Everyone will want the perfect body, perfect skin, etc and even if you don't have all of that, you're still good enough, no matter how many rolls you have or no matter how "curvy" you look.
It's OK to have insecurities but it's also OK to look in the mirror every once in awhile. Your flaws do not make you any less of a person, a beautiful person at that.
Loving yourself is the greatest revolution. Stand in the mirror and talk to yourself like you would to someone you love. It's hard to overcome self-esteem problems, but it isn't impossible.
You are worthy of so much and you just don't know it yet.
Sincerely,
The girl who struggles, too
