Being a server can really become irritating at times. Although we all know the tips can be promising getting through a rough table can be the hardest thing ever. So all you servers out there know these 9 aggravating truths, explained by OITNB.
1. When the customer says they are ready to order but then looks at the menu while you stand there like
No please take your time
2. When they say everything is good until your manager asks them
3. When your last table for the night finally leaves so you can go home
After dropping the check 20+ minutes ago, they finally gather up their children and leave......a huge mess for you to clean up
4. Going into a double on a Friday or Saturday
Slow or busy you know the day is going to feel like forever, and while sometimes we complain, we all know the tips normally add up nicely.
5. When you rang the order in right and the cooks got it wrong
Admitting a mistake to the kitchen can be intimidating, but when they get it wrong one is relieved.
6. When they tell you they need you to stay to work a double
7. Talking to another server about the “regulars” the host just sat at your table
Because regulars normally have their mind made up about their order before they step foot in the place, they can be a tad intimidating.
8. After feeling bad about not checking on a table because you know they are going to ask for something complicated/ complain
As much as we deny doing it, we all have not gone back to a table multiple times during their meal because they ask for something every time, or are ordering complicated things.
9. Seeing a table did not tip you after you slaved over them for over an hour
This by far is the most annoying thing that can happen. Not getting a tip from a table, no matter how big or small the bill is, can be discouraging. Plus the fact you took the time and effort to make their experience the best ever and to not be shown gratitude is just plain rude.
