5 Struggles Commuters Bond Over

It sometimes makes more sense just to live on campus.

If you live off campus and commute then you rock. Only commuters can relate to the everyday drive from home to school to work(if you do work). It plain out sucks especially if you have a 7:30 or an 8:45 morning class. Depending on where you are commuting from it could take a little bit of gas. More reasons that commuting is really a bad idea at times.

5. Timing

When it comes to timing commuters have to time their drive carefully and know the route they are gonna take. Depending on the route depends on where they live outside of campus.

Like a person living in Oxford and commuting to Jacksonville that should be a 30-minute drive max maybe that is not including the school traffic. If someone was commuting to Jacksonville from Munford that would be more of 40 to 45-minute drive not counting school traffic of course.

4.Money

Okay, college kids in general money is a rarity unless you have a good job. For commuters money usually goes towards gas. Well for me it does. You can't get anything without money gas, food, supplies.

So we have to save money up or ask mom and dad for money and pray one of the two work.

3. Eating

People who live on campus shell out tons of money to eat on campus food and don't have to use cash or debit. Commuters, on the other hand, we have to shell out cash or debit to get on campus food.

Unless there is that one commuter who puts money on their card to eat. Without the JSU ID cards, commuters can use cash or debit or bring their own food to eat.

2. Gas

Driving back and forth from home to class sucks. It's an everyday thing and if someone has work and their uniform is at home that's more gas that the person will use.

For those who drive home on the weekends, you know what it is like but think about doing that drive five times a week. Especially with gas prices rising then lowering its hard to tell when the right time to get gas is.

1. Traffic

Traffic is a commuters biggest enemy because no one knows how it will compare from one day to another. If a commuter is on a schedule and they know their routing then the time should be okay until they get stopped.

It could be for multiple reasons like, pulled over by an office, a wreck, a train, construction, etc. It really sucks when something like that happens because it messes with the commuters time and plan.

Commuting is not all glitter and gold. It truly is a chore that if not kept up it could cost you college. If a commuter lives at home with parents then that is the biggest plus because they get to stay there for free and only have to pay gas if the parents take the car payments. Trying to travel everyday from point A to Point B and maybe points C,D,E and F it gets old and boring.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
