It's no secret that pretty much every freshman in college gets sick during their first semester no matter how strong their immune system is. The dorms are literally a giant germ of past freshmen's sickness. It doesn't matter which way you shake it at some point you will probably get sick. If you don't I'd love to know your secret because It hasn't even been a month and I am already sick for a second time.

1. The first sniffle.

I should be fine... right? Usually you're thinking I probably just need to blow my nose or something, no big deal. I usually never get sick. I'm fine. But then the next morning hits.

2. Oh no, what's happening?

At this point you are probably waking up to a sore throat looking around wondering if you are actually getting sick or if it is just because you slept with your mouth open or something. But then, a cough escapes your mouth...

3. It's just a little cough, you can handle it.

You're thinking maybe you just need a nap or something. You went out late last week, no need to call your mom over that. Right?

4. Okay, you are sick.

Now is when you start to cry because you are tired, thinking about sad stuff, maybe had a depressing canned soup dinner alone in your dorm. You don't really want to cry because it will only make your stuffy nose worse, but the tears just have to happen, okay.

And then one good cry later...

5. I NEED MY MOM.

You give her the blow by blow of when everything started. From the first sneeze all the way to the cry you just had. She tells you to go to the health center, and that everything will be fine although all you know you really need is a hug right now. After you hang up:

6. The "I'm just going to drop out or something" thoughts kick in.

We've all had this conversation with ourselves. We think that we are not ready to live on our own, and contemplate moving back in with our parents and going to the local community college or something. You then calm down and go to sleep even though it's like eight o'clock at night. After all you might feel better in the morning.

But then it's next week and...

7. What time our we going out?

You have slept off whatever "sickness" you had, took some antibiotics, and now you feel like a new person ready to finally (!!!) go out again.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
