38 Struggles Every Basic White Girl Faces In College

Every basic white girl knows the struggles we all face in high school. The college struggle is so much worse -- everything is so much farther away from you, and you spend way more time walking outside than you ever want to in your life.

1. Trying to peel off gel nail polish.

2. Having to dye your hair back to its natural color.

3. All your cardigans are dry clean only.

4. Starbucks is a 10-minute walk uphill from the freshman dorms.

5. Trying to decorate your room is a struggle in itself.

6. Snow and salt destroying all your Uggs.

7. North Face jackets offer no warmth.

8. None of your clothes make you feel any warmer.

9. Putting on skinny jeans after a shower and after putting on lotion.

10. Losing every single bobby pin you own.

11. The wi-fi doesn't work well.

12. Getting ready for a party.

13. There is nowhere to get your eyebrows waxed.

14. Not knowing when it's socially acceptable to break out the Uggs.

15. Running out of make-up remover wipes.

16. Only having 315 dining dollars.

17. Having to walk to Hunt when you order clothes online.

18. Victoria Secret sweat pants are either way too long on you lengthwise, or way to big on you waist-wise.

19. Having a mall with only three stores.

20. Stepping in a puddle while wearing socks.

21. The humidity ruining your hair at least once a week.

22. Not knowing what to wear because the weather is so bi-polar.

23. When you completely break a nail.

24. Baby hairs.

25. When your Dunkin' or Starbucks order just isn't on point.

26. The closest Dunkin' is all the way in town.

27. Accidentally shrinking your shirts.

28. Forever staining a white shirt.

29. Losing your only hair-tie and begging your friends for theirs.

30. Dealing with a Brita filter.

31. Losing your Chapstick and never seeing it again.

32. When Mills runs out of popcorn chicken.

33. When you eventually go to Starbucks and the line is out the door.

34. Having to jump onto your bed because it's too high to get on it like a normal person.

35. Friend-zoning really nice guys.

36. The really hot guys always have a girlfriend.

37. Ordering a salted caramel mocha and they give you a pumpkin spice latte.3

8. Not being able to make the perfect messy bun.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
