You’re not alone and if you think you are, you’ve definitely talked to the wrong people.
Spring semester is supposed to be the best semester we have at school. The sun comes out, the work is easier and campus is full of activities and people sitting on the green all day.
So why is it that we’re feeling the most stressed out now? If you’re like me, you’ve got tons of exams left that you absolutely have to ace, group projects no one has time to meet for and every club you’re in is hosting their “biggest event of the year.”
On top of all of that stress you’re almost a real adult. No one told us that college comes to a screeching halt when you’re in spring semester of junior year. All of a sudden you’re not only trying to fight that senioritis you have no business having but now every night of the week you’ve found yourself filling out job applications, internship applications and graduate school applications.
It’s like junior year of high school all over again, except on steroids. Now, when the panic sets in, I usually nap away my responsibilities and hope they just disappear, but lately I’ve had so many things all happening at the same time that I don’t even have time to sleep at night.
I know everyone always says, “Don’t worry everything will work out in the end,” and you’re always like, “Yeah you’re right, okay I’m fine.” But to get to that end they speak of, you have to know where you’re going first.
As for myself, I have no idea what to do this time next year when college gets ripped out from under me. Hopefully, I get to do a whole three years more, that is if I ace the one test that will decide if I get accepted to grad school or not. Talk about pressure.
If you’ve never had your faith in the hands of at least one college professor, congratulations, you’re doing college right.
I know it can all be overwhelming and stressful but at the end of the day, the best thing to tell ourselves is that it will all be worth it in the end. All the hard work you have put into everything will come back to reward you in the future.
So for right now, make your biggest responsibility a paper, put in that hard work, stress over all the assignments you have and run around like a chicken without a head trying to get to all your club meetings because let’s face it, when it’s all said and done and graduation rolls around, you’ll all of a sudden realize that it wasn’t that bad after all.
And hey, I’ve heard real life is harder so good luck to us!
