We all say that we are “stressed” at some point in our lives. Some say it more than others. However, it amazes me the context that some use it for.
It amazes me how many times that some people use the phrase “I’m too stressed to deal with this” or “I have too many other things going on” to GET OUT of a situation they put themselves in. Some people “build” their own stress level, meaning one of two things:
They are holding themselves to a higher standard than they are able to maintain or pursue.
They create issues with themselves and within their relationships with others by their own actions to the point where arguments occur and stress levels skyrocket, on both sides.
On both sides of this stress you have one side trying to help ease the stress, and the stubborn side lying to themselves and in turn to the other side that they aren’t stressed. It IS okay to feel stressed, it IS okay to struggle, it IS okay to be afraid. Many people see these facts of life to be “bad” but in reality… It is the world we live in. Take school for example. Certain subjects are not easy for some while others flourish in those areas. Those that flourish in the areas of others’ struggles have other areas or subjects that they themselves struggle in.
Struggle.
Struggling in a class that you NEED to pass or get a certain grade in raises your expectation of yourself and raises your stress level in that area of study. You then become afraid and as time narrows down to get the grade to pass, fearing that you will not pass the class and are afraid of what your parents will think, or what your friends will think if you should fail, and this, in turn, makes you afraid of your own potential. Being afraid, or stressed, or struggling in something doesn’t make you weak or inadequate, it makes you better than those who don’t take the initiative to better themselves, the ones who stress themselves out and blame it on everything else, sometimes even family, and friends.
Feeling stressed out by a task, or by a burden you feel that you bear, is a learning experience for you to make yourself realize how great you are, and how much you are capable of even when you are stressed.
