Stress is a silent killer. Often you hear the phrase, 'Good grades, a social life, or sleep. Pick two to be successful.' Often enough in college, there are more factors in this equation; Greek life, a job, other extracurriculars, and more? You still can only do so much and can't overload yourself to the point of no return.
The truth is that you almost only do get a 'Pick Two'; scenario when it comes to life. You can balance so many different functions in a healthy lifestyle. Take your pick: good grades, a social life, extracurriculars, or sleep? What will you choose? How can you try to balance all of them and still function without being exhausted?
The real answer is to follow your heart; the heart will never lead you astray. If you can't keep up with all the extracurriculars you want to cut them out; if you can't give them your full potential, they probably aren't utilizing your full potential either. It's hard to let something go, but you have just freed up that much more time to dedicate to another aspect of life, or taking naps because we all love taking naps.
You can't bottle all of your stress and emotions up because it's a dangerous situation when you do. I've had far too many friends develop serious medical issues from an excessive amount of stress. From seeing it firsthand, it isn't something you want to mess around with. Whether it's a person you don't like that's trying to slide into your DMs or that one nagging friend you have - you can't take it out on the ones who don't deserve it (not saying the DM creeps don't).
You have to be able to release your stress, uncover a way to get it out, find a friend to talk it out with, find a workout partner to run with until you can't run anymore, or find your happy place to take your mind off of it. Explore the outdoors, that's a great way to get your find off of everything. The outdoors can solve many problems and give you some great scenery while you're along for the ride.
You can't keep bottling it up forever because something drastically bad will happen to you. Your family and friends are there for a reason utilize them, just like they utilize you.
