Stress. Where to start? I have felt it every morning for the past couple of weeks, and it will only get worse as “Final’s” week start. Then there is procrastination, that feeling of wanting to do nothing; where the overall goal is just to take up matter. It actually can be quite beautiful, unless, you have a billion papers due the next day or something… College students face a tough challenge of having to balance both these two powerful entities. It is in these moments, that I remember my days in high school. How easy it was, after having some college experience, I could have easily ruled in high school. King of all clubs, highest GPA, best volunteer, and so much more, although, that is just a figure of my imagination. Our time is now, not in the past; which is why ask how are college students able to manage so much heaving stress and such intense procrastination?
Some would answer that going with the flow is the best way, others would say that a detailed schedule of all of your assignments is critical for success. Then there are the students who are organized to a certain extent, but have strong “going with the flow” traits, what do these do? Honestly, I would say go scream at the Commons, but then people would start looking at you like you were crazy. Let us not add mentally deranged to our list of qualities; yet the question still remains—how do college students handle all of this?
Of course, there is no one-way for any problem; just how each person is different, each solution should be different. Now, it is not a mathematical equation, nor is it a complicated theory to be analyzed—instead it’s a matter of knowing yourself.
If lying around is your way to alleviate stress, do it. If watching Netflix is it, binge away. If food is the source of your happiness, eat your heart-desires (this one is my favorite). I guess my point is that no matter how we deal with stress and our procrastination, our individual happiness is more important. For me, a good nap puts me in a good mood, especially when I get to each afterwards—my friends can attest to this. So hey, grab some food, take a nap, then wake up to some awesome food. Bliss.
