Dear Daddy,
It's your oldest child, wait no, your youngest, just kidding it's your middle. I know there are many articles about fathers on The Odyssey, but I wanted to write my own, about my own father. So, daddy, this is for you.
I am the middle child in the family (and the last girl) as well as the last granddaughter of nine grandchildren on my dad's side. My wonderful grandparents had three boys; my dad the youngest. Each of them had two girls; my grandpa was getting tired of girls after me. So my grandpa said, "Whoever has the first boy gets $1,000," with that the challenge was on. Nineteen months after my birth my brother was born, the first boy in the family. Seventeen years later, I still haven't seen the money.
Being the middle child and the last girl in the family is fun. That's because you are your dad's last daughter, his little girl. So you are obviously spoiled to death. The oldest daughter doesn't matter because the last daughter is the one who does everything last. Such as graduating high school, going to college and obviously marriage.
Dad's are always the best. They will always be there for a shoulder to cry on. Whether it's from bullies at school, failing grades, or being heartbroken. Dad's will always be there for their little girls.
Dad, we might get into arguments, and we might not talk for a while, but I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I appreciate you more than anything in the world.
I love and miss you.
Your Last Daughter
