Since the announcement of SuperM about two months ago, I have been thinking nonstop about this group. With teasers, trailers, and concept photos, my excitement had been building up for their release date on October 4th, and the time has finally come.
Now if you have no idea who SuperM is, let me give you a quick summary. SuperM is made up of various members from four K-pop groups under SM Entertainment. There are seven members in total: Taemin from SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV. The members are highly skilled in their performance, vocal, and rap abilities.
What sets SuperM apart from other K-pop groups is that they are under both SM Entertainment and Capital Records, an American record label. They are even promoting in the U.S., as well as, in South Korea.

Labelled as "the Avengers of K-pop," the group has set expectations high. Chris Lee, an Artists & Repertoire executive and director at SM Entertainment, explained the group's concept, "Each Avenger has their own group and Iron Man has his own movie and Thor has his own but together they have an even greater synergy..."
The long wait has ended today because "SuperM - The 1st Mini Album" was released and let me just say it went beyond my expectations. There are five songs on this album, so here are my thoughts on each track.
The first song, which is also the title track, is "Jopping," a combination of "jumping" and "popping". When the album was released at 12am, I listened to and watched this music video first. To be honest, this song wasn't what I was expecting, but that's solely because I thought the sound clips from various teasers were taken from this song.
This song is incredibly catchy and gives me an electro-pop vibe. An abundance of the lyrics are in English, but they do preserve their culture and background through some Korean lyrics as well. I immediately fell in love with this song because of its distinct sound, as well as, the visuals from the music video.

The second track is titled, "I Can't Stand The Rain," and is my favorite song at the moment. I can really hear the Korean drums and string instruments working in this song and giving it such a powerful feeling. All the members shine, but I personally love Baekhyun's vocals in this song.
"2 Fast" is the third song on this album, and it delivers a R&B sound. The chorus is my favorite part and translated it says, "You captivate me before I breathe once 2 fast, 2 fast, no, 2 fast."
The next song is "Super Car," which features a very strong EDM beat. Now I'm not going to lie, this song let me down a little because I was expecting Mark's rap from his trailer (skip to 0:39 in the link below to hear it) to be included in the song; however, no parts of it were in the final cut. With the knowledge that Mark's rap featured in this clip was from "Super Car," I had high expectations for this song. Overall, I still appreciate this song, but I would definitely love it so much more if this rap was included.

"No Manners" is the last song on SuperM's debut album. This song really surprised me because all the songs before delivered an upbeat and hype sound, but this one takes on a slower pace. I'm not saying that this song is slow but that it takes on a chiller sound that I really enjoy.
I think it's safe to say that I love this album and highly recommend that you give it a listen. With only being five songs, you'll get through it quickly, but I think you'll want to enjoy all the songs again multiple times after you finish.
