Stop Waiting For Friday

I know you've heard it a million times, but life is short. Time is fleeting and every second of each day is one you will never get back. I feel like so often we are caught up in thinking and hoping for the future that we tend to ignore the beautiful moments in front of us each and every day. People are always waiting for that special someone, or that job, or that one thing that is going to make their lives perfect and make them happy. But the truth is if we just took the time to appreciate the present moment we would be a lot happier.

Stop wishing your life away. Stop waking up every morning and wishing it were Friday. Do things now. Go out on a Tuesday night and forget you have a 9 a.m. or work the next day. Do that daring thing on your bucket list. Quit sitting around and being miserable, if you are unhappy then do something to fix it. Why waste any more time being unsatisfied with yourself or your life?

I used to believe that the only hope there was in life was looking forward to things. I would wish my days away because all I was looking forward to was the future, the time when I would be in a place or with people that would make everything better. But I now know that I was wrong. Sure it's nice to have things to look forward to, but you can't depend on them. I would waste my winters wishing for June and I wished away my high school years yearning for college. But you can't simply cure what you are feeling or experiencing by ignoring the present moment. Life is what you make it, and honestly it would be a damn shame if you wasted your life wishing to be someplace else.

So have dreams and make plans for the future, but don't let them take away from where you are right now. I remember a specific night this summer I was watching the sunset on the jetty with one of my best friends. We were watching the sun melt into the horizon and she turned to me and said, "Do you know how lucky we are?" And I smiled and said "It's a good life we have." That will honestly always be one of my fondest memories, because it's true. Be where you are and be with who you're with. These people who are important to you right now, let them be your world because in 10 years from now who knows where life will take you.

Your life is a book. You have to read every single chapter in order to get the most out of the story, you can't just skip to the last page. Write your story. You cannot erase the past but you can change the future. Stop waiting for everything to fall into place because who the hell knows if it ever will. Stop waiting for the person you like to ask you out, if you want something bad enough then go after it. Take control of your life and live it like every day is your last.

If you had a friend you knew you'd never see again, what would you say? If you could travel one last place where would it be? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? If you looked back on your life what would you regret not doing? Say it, do it, don't wait. Nothing lasts forever. Stop waiting for Friday, live your life now.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
