Any other fellow Diet Coke lovers in the house?
Diet Coke is my only vice and I'm convinced I have an actual addiction to it. I get caffeine headaches from withdrawal if I haven't had it in a while. That's probably not good, but oh well. I've been drinking it for years like it's goin' out of style, regardless of how many times people tell me it's bad for me. I'm going to keep drinking it because #cantstopwontstop.
First of all, I would just like to preface this by saying that I know Diet Coke isn't good for me. But honestly, not much that we consume on the daily is. If you're a consumer of easy-mac, fried foods, pizza rolls, ramen, or any of the other crap that the majority of us have in our refrigerators or cabinets, (especially us college students) you better leave me alone and let me drink my Diet Coke.
Being addicted to Diet Coke is like having an addiction to anything else. It is actually an addiction and there's tons of research saying that it is easy to become addicted to Diet Coke because of the artificial sweeteners used in it.
That's usually the first thing someone points out to me when they see me drinking a Diet Coke. "Don't you know that's not good for you?" Well, duh. But neither is your grande-in-a-venti-cup-hazelnut-caramel-white-mocha-frappuccino-double-blended, SUSAN.
On top of people judging me for drinking Diet Coke at 9:00 AM, I feel like I hear that question that every Diet Coke fan fears they'll get when they're about to indulge, all too often: "You know that has aspartame in it, right?" Yes, we know. We all know.
Especially if we're drinking it daily. And how dare you tell me that I can drink Diet Pepsi instead because it doesn't have aspartame in it. I feel like you're either A D.C or a Pepsi person; there is no in between. I am 100% team D.C. Us Diet Coke fans will continue subjecting our bodies to that chemical because we just don't care.
Dedicated Pepsi fans, back off. I'm looking at you, Coons.
All Diet Coke addicts are also aware that Diet Coke is not going to make us skinny. We don't care. I hate when people try to get into an argument with me about how it's just going to make me fat and I should drink regular Coke. But guess what? I don't even like regular Coke. So your argument is invalid, but thanks for trying.
By the end of the week, my recycling bin is full of Diet Coke bottles and cans. I need a way for it to run out of our sinks sort of like water so I could fill up a pitcher with it so my addiction was more environment-friendly (that's really the only downside I see). If someone wants to patent that idea, I will definitely invest. Heck, maybe I should just patent it myself.
Remember my Diet-Coke-loving-friends, don't let the haters bring you down.
