Just Because Someone Eats Differently Than You Doesn't Mean You Can Ridicule Them

Let people make their own dietary decisions.

Vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO...these are labels concerning food that are now seen almost everywhere. People all around the world choose to follow different diets, whether that be for ethical, medical, or health reasons. Personally, I do not care what other people choose to eat (or not eat). However, I have seen plenty of people bash others for their eating habits. It just begs the question: why?

I do not understand why people continue to talk down to others because of the way they eat.

Their dietary choices do not concern you in the slightest unless you are their doctor. People can exercise the right to make the choice of what to put in their body, and others should respect that decision. If you choose to eat a certain way and you want to promote that, then, by all means, go for it! Talk about how veganism changed your life or how organic vegetables taste way better. If you are passionate about the diet you follow then tweet about it, Snapchat your food; do whatever will make you happy.

However, do

not talk down to those that choose not to live that way. If you sit there, all high and mighty, and act as if you are best because you eat a certain way, you are not going to convince anyone to see your point-of-view. Nobody wants to be made to feel stupid. You can easily promote your way of living by being uplifting, positive, and welcoming; there is absolutely no reason you should bring other people down for being different from you.Someone else’s food is none of your business. If they want to eat meat, let them. If they do not want to eat meat, let them. It is just ridiculous to make people feel guilty about how they eat. If someone is interested in eating a certain way, they will seek out the information they need. Until then, mind your own business and eat what will make you happy.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
